Norton 450 Urban Unveiled at EICMA 2026: New 454cc Motorcycle Gets Two Versions

Norton Motorcycles has expanded its next-generation line-up with the world premiere of the Norton 450 Urban at EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy. The new motorcycle introduces the British brand to a new segment, combining premium design, a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine and modern rider technology in a compact package.

The Norton 450 Urban will be offered in two versions, giving riders a choice between a road-focused appearance and a more rugged design with additional equipment. Both share the same engine and core mechanical package.

Designed for urban commuting and weekend rides, the new model is aimed at both newer riders and experienced motorcyclists looking for a lightweight, versatile machine.

Design and Styling

The Norton 450 Urban follows the brand’s latest design philosophy, with a clean silhouette, carefully shaped bodywork and attention to detail. Its design takes inspiration from the 1927 Norton CS1, particularly the visual line connecting the rear wheel, swingarm, frame and fuel tank.

The motorcycle gets a low, narrow seat and a tank that slopes away from the rider. These elements are intended to make it feel more approachable while retaining the distinctive presence associated with Norton.

The standard road-focused version features 17-inch silver cast wheels, a silver frame and road-oriented tyres. The second version adopts a more rugged appearance, with black cast wheels, a grey frame and swingarm, extended mudguards, handguards, fork protectors and a flyscreen. It also gets distinctive seat trim.

Norton has focused on clean bodywork, minimal visible fasteners and carefully finished panels. The fuel cap and engine are covered, giving the motorcycle a more refined overall appearance.

Engine and Performance

Powering both versions is a 454cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 47 PS at 8,000 rpm and 45 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, with a quickshifter available as part of its rider-focused technology package.

Norton says the engine has been tuned for linear acceleration and strong in-gear response, with torque delivery designed to make the motorcycle engaging without being intimidating for less experienced riders.

The motorcycle has a 12-litre fuel tank and a target kerb weight of under 180 kg. Its performance and overall package are designed to meet A2 licence requirements in Europe.

Chassis, Suspension and Braking

One of the key engineering highlights is the aluminium frame, which Norton describes as unique in its class. The platform has been developed to balance agility, stability and low-speed control, particularly for urban riding.

Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable 43mm KYB upside-down front fork and a KYB rear monoshock with rebound and preload adjustment.

Braking is managed by ByBre hardware, including a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. Cornering ABS is included to provide additional braking assistance.

Both versions use 17-inch cast wheels, with the rugged variant adding protective components and styling elements intended to broaden its usability beyond paved roads.

Features and Rider Technology

The Norton 450 Urban gets a comprehensive electronics and connectivity package. Its equipment includes an 8-inch TFT touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, keyless ignition and an integrated USB-C charging port.

Other features include:

  • Three riding modes
  • Traction control
  • Cornering ABS
  • Cruise control
  • Dynamic LED headlights
  • Heated grips
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • Quickshifter

Norton says the electronic systems are designed to improve rider confidence and convenience without making the riding experience unnecessarily complicated.

Norton 450 Urban: Expected Positioning and Availability

The Norton 450 Urban made its world premiere at EICMA 2026, marking the brand’s entry into a new motorcycle segment. It will sit alongside the Manx, Manx R, Atlas and Atlas GT in Norton’s expanding product portfolio.

Norton has not announced the motorcycle’s pricing or specific market launch dates in the press release. The company has also not confirmed an India launch timeline for the 450 Urban.

Norton’s Resurgence Continues

The Norton 450 Urban is part of the company’s wider Resurgence strategy, which was introduced at EICMA 2025. Over the past year, Norton says it has moved from announcing its new-generation motorcycles to putting models into production and beginning customer deliveries.

The company also reported that its retail network had expanded to 10 markets across more than 50 retailers, with further expansion planned.

With the 450 Urban, Norton is looking beyond its traditional premium motorcycle categories and targeting riders who want a more accessible way into the brand. Its combination of a 454cc engine, aluminium frame, premium equipment and two distinct design approaches gives the new motorcycle a different role in Norton’s growing line-up.
