JSW MG Motor India has taken a significant step into its next generation of electrified mobility with the launch of the new MG Hector Tomahawk. The new SUV is the first MG model in India to be built on the company’s ADAPT platform, which MG describes as India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle platform.
More importantly, MG is giving buyers a choice of two electrified powertrains from the beginning. The MG Hector Tomahawk is available as a fully electric SUV and as a plug in hybrid electric vehicle.
The introductory Battery as a Service price starts at ₹13.99 lakh plus ₹4.90 per km battery rental for the EV, while the PHEV starts at ₹21.79 lakh plus ₹3.20 per km battery rental. Customers choosing complete vehicle ownership can purchase the EV from ₹19.49 lakh and the PHEV from ₹25.69 lakh, ex showroom.
MG Hector Tomahawk Brings EV and PHEV Technology to One SUV
The philosophy behind the MG Hector Tomahawk is quite different from simply launching another electric SUV.
MG says its new ADAPT architecture has been developed to support multiple new energy technologies. The Hector Tomahawk demonstrates that approach by offering both EV and PHEV powertrains on the same model.
This gives customers greater freedom depending on their driving requirements. An EV can make sense for buyers who have convenient charging access, while the PHEV adds the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer journeys.
JSW MG Motor India says this approach is intended to address the diverse driving patterns of Indian customers.
MG Hector Tomahawk EV Offers 517 km Claimed Range
The electric version gets a 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery paired with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor.
The motor produces 150 kW of power and 310 Nm of torque. MG claims a certified driving range of 517 km on a single charge. The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW.

The EV will be available in both five and seven seat configurations, making it one of the more practical options for buyers looking for a larger family electric SUV.
PHEV Offers More Than 1,100 km Combined Range
The bigger talking point could be the PHEV.
The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV combines a 1.5 litre petrol engine, a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and a 20.5 kWh battery pack. The battery provides more than 115 km of pure electric driving range.
The electric motor produces 148 kW, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in approximately nine seconds.
MG claims a combined driving range of more than 1,100 km with a full tank and full charge.
The PHEV uses four different operating modes:
- Pure Electric Drive
- Series Hybrid Drive
- Parallel Hybrid Drive
- Engine Direct Drive
The system continuously evaluates driving conditions and selects the appropriate operating strategy. MG says the DHT also uses an electromagnetic clutch capable of switching modes in 0.1 seconds.
The PHEV is offered exclusively as a seven seater.
India First Vehicle to Home Capability
One of the most interesting features of the MG Hector Tomahawk is its Vehicle to Home capability.
MG claims the SUV is India’s first vehicle with V2H capability, allowing the vehicle’s battery to power household appliances, outdoor equipment and even a home.
This effectively turns the SUV into a mobile energy source rather than limiting the battery’s purpose to powering the vehicle.
Bold Design With Three Row Practicality
The MG Hector Tomahawk has been designed with a strong road presence.
It measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,770 mm in height, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. MG describes it as the tallest and among the longest vehicles in its segment.
The SUV also gets 230 mm of ground clearance at the battery.
Design highlights include sculpted bumpers, signature Beacon Lights, an illuminated MG logo, Rotor Alloy wheels and strong character lines.
An automatic power tailgate adds another layer of everyday convenience.
Premium Cabin With 15.6 Inch Display
Inside, MG has focused heavily on comfort and technology.
The cabin gets a Desert Squadron interior theme with an Almond Brown and Carbon Black colour combination. Leatherette upholstery, leatherette finished door armrests and dashboard inserts, along with a leather wrapped steering wheel, give the cabin a premium feel.
The front seats are ventilated, while the driver gets a six way power adjustable seat with memory function. The co driver gets a four way powered seat.
The five seater version offers up to 610 litres of boot space with all seats in use. The seven seater gets a flexible second row with 60:40 split, slide and recline functionality, while the third row can be accessed through a tip and tumble mechanism.
At the centre of the dashboard is a 15.6 inch HD Grand View Display, claimed to be the largest in the segment.
It is joined by an 8.8 inch multi information display and a 10 speaker Infinity premium audio system.
GenAI Voice Assistant and i SMART 3.0
Technology is one of the biggest strengths of the new SUV.
The MG Hector Tomahawk gets i SMART 3.0 with more than 80 connected features. MG has also introduced i SWIPE gesture controls using two, three and five finger gestures.
The SUV also gets what MG describes as India’s first GenAI powered voice assistant, capable of understanding more than 30 Hinglish commands.

Safety is another major focus.
Six airbags are standard across all variants along with Electronic Stability Program, Traction Control, Hill Hold Control, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, TPMS and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
The SUV also gets all-wheel disc brakes.

Battery Safety Gets Special Attention
MG has placed considerable emphasis on the safety of the EV’s 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery.
The battery uses high thermal stability cell materials, ceramic insulation layers and high temperature resistant electrolyte.
According to MG, the battery has undergone needle penetration, thermal shock, short circuit and cell deformation testing. The company also says the battery system has completed more than 2,000 bench tests and over 490 full vehicle validation tests.
The battery management system continuously monitors battery health, while MG is offering a lifetime battery warranty to the first owner of both the EV and PHEV.
MG SHIELD Ownership Package
MG is also offering an ownership programme called MG SHIELD.
For the Hector Tomahawk EV, the package includes a three year unlimited kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance and two labour free periodic services.
PHEV customers get a three year unlimited kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance and three labour free periodic services.
Customers can also choose extended warranty, roadside assistance and prepaid maintenance plans.
An Assured Buy Back Program is available as an additional ownership option.

The EV will be available in six single tone colours:

Two dual tone options are also available:

MG Hector Tomahawk Price in India
The introductory pricing structure is one of the most interesting aspects of the launch.

The BaaS prices apply to a limited number of bookings.
The EV variant range includes Excite 7S, Exclusive 7S, Essence 5S and Essence 7S.

MG Hector Tomahawk Launch and Deliveries
Bookings for both the EV and PHEV versions are now open across MG dealerships in India and through the company’s website.
Deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk EV are scheduled to begin in September 2026, while PHEV test drives and deliveries will begin in November 2026.
The launch comes after several weeks of anticipation around MG’s new three row SUV. Before the official reveal, the model had been spotted undisguised in Pune, while reports had identified it as the first India bound MG product based on the ADAPT architecture.
Why the ADAPT Platform Matters
The MG Hector Tomahawk is more important for MG than just being another new SUV.
It is the first product in India based on ADAPT, or Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology. MG describes ADAPT as a Multi New Energy Vehicle platform designed around different electrified powertrain technologies.
That makes the Hector Tomahawk the first major demonstration of MG’s new strategy for offering customers multiple electrification pathways.
The company says ADAPT will help it respond to changing customer needs rather than committing exclusively to one type of powertrain.
