India’s premium two-wheeler market is set to welcome another distinctive international brand. Italian manufacturer Italjet is preparing to enter India through a partnership with Motohaus India, bringing three models from its unconventional Dragster family: the Dragster 300, Dragster 459 and Dragster 700.
The announcement was made ahead of the brand’s official unveiling in India, scheduled for December 4 and 5, 2026, at India Bike Week. All three models are planned to be assembled at Motohaus India’s manufacturing facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
For Indian enthusiasts, Italjet’s arrival could bring something quite different from the conventional scooter and motorcycle offerings currently available in the country. The brand is known for its exposed-frame designs, distinctive front suspension systems, and performance-focused engineering.

Italjet Dragster 300: The Entry Point
The Dragster 300 will serve as the entry point to Italjet’s planned Indian lineup. However, its design is far from that of a conventional urban scooter.
Its exposed tubular steel trellis frame, aggressive bodywork and Independent Steering System (ISS) give it a distinctive mechanical appearance. The front suspension architecture is one of its most recognisable features, separating the steering and suspension functions.
In its international specification, the Dragster 300 uses a 278cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 23.8 hp and 26 Nm of torque. It is paired with an automatic CVT transmission.
The combination of a relatively compact engine and an unusual chassis layout makes the Dragster 300 an interesting proposition for riders looking for something different from the usual scooter format.

Italjet Dragster 459: Twin-Cylinder Performance
Moving up the lineup, the Dragster 459 brings a significant change in engine configuration. It uses a 449cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC parallel-twin engine, producing 35 kW of power and 41 Nm of torque in its international specification.
One of its key highlights is Italjet’s SmartShift transmission technology. The system offers automatic operation as well as manual-style gear control through handlebar-mounted paddle shifters. This allows riders to choose between convenience and a more involved riding experience.
The Dragster 459 also gets premium chassis hardware, including fully adjustable Marzocchi upside-down front forks, an adjustable rear shock and Brembo braking components. Its 15-inch wheels and aggressive design further distinguish it from traditional scooters.
This model could be particularly interesting for enthusiasts who want twin-cylinder performance in an unconventional scooter-style package.

Italjet Dragster 700: The Flagship Model
At the top of the planned India lineup sits the Dragster 700, the most powerful model among the three announced for India.
It is powered by a 698cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC parallel-twin engine. In its international specification, the engine produces 50 kW, equivalent to approximately 68 hp, and 67 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Dragster 700 features an exposed tubular steel trellis frame, giving the machine a striking mechanical identity. Its international specification also includes adjustable Marzocchi suspension, Brembo brakes, Pirelli tyres and an Akrapovič exhaust.
Unlike the smaller Dragster models, the 700 uses a conventional manual gearbox, making it a more motorcycle-oriented offering despite its distinctive scooter-inspired design.

Made in India: Local Assembly in Kolhapur
One of the important aspects of the Italjet India entry is the plan to assemble all three models locally.
Motohaus will use its manufacturing facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, to assemble the Dragster 300, 459 and 700. This combines Italjet’s Italian design and engineering with Motohaus’s local manufacturing and operational capabilities.
Local assembly will also play an important role in supporting the brand’s long-term presence in India. However, the company has not yet disclosed whether local assembly will have any impact on the final pricing of the models.
Dedicated Italjet Experience Centres Planned
Motohaus is also planning dedicated Italjet Experience Centres in selected Indian cities. These outlets are expected to reflect the brand’s premium positioning and distinctive Italian design philosophy.
The first phase of the retail expansion is planned for Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. Additional Tier 1 cities may be considered in later phases.
The proposed experience centres will focus on product demonstrations, trained specialists, customer engagement and after-sales support.

Italjet India Launch Timeline and Expected Price
The official India unveiling of the Italjet Dragster range is scheduled for December 4 and 5, 2026, at India Bike Week. Customer deliveries are expected to commence in Q2 2027.
At present, there is no confirmed India pricing for any of the three models. Motohaus has also stated that India-specific specifications and availability details will be announced later.
With three different engine capacities and distinct transmission approaches, the Dragster range will give Indian buyers multiple ways to experience Italjet’s unconventional design philosophy.
The Road Ahead
The Italjet India entry adds another international name to the country’s growing premium two-wheeler segment. The Dragster 300, 459 and 700 are not conventional scooters, and their exposed mechanical design, distinctive chassis layouts and performance-focused engineering give them a clear identity.
Much will depend on the final India specifications, pricing, dealership reach and after-sales support. The local assembly plan and proposed dedicated experience centres are important first steps.
The next major milestone will be the India unveiling at India Bike Week in December 2026. Until then, the Dragster range gives Indian enthusiasts a first look at what Italjet plans to bring to the market.
